Testimonial carousel
A testimonial carousel, built into your site with no plugin and no library. A row of quote cards, all in the HTML, that scrolls and snaps by swipe, by arrows or on its own. Autoplay waits on each card for its reading time, holds on hover, stops once the visitor takes hold of the row, and has a visible pause button.
What people say
A short quote. The row waits at least seven seconds on every card, so a short one is never rushed.
Short quotes A long quote holds the row for longer. The wait follows reading time, about two hundred words a minute plus a two-second margin, so someone halfway through a paragraph is not left chasing it off the edge of the screen. This card is the longest in the row, and you can watch it stay put while the short ones move on sooner.
Long quotes Rest the mouse on the row and it holds still. Move away and it carries on.
Hover Press an arrow, swipe, click in the row or tab into it, and it stops until you press play. Taking hold of it is signal enough.
Taking hold The pause button is there whenever the row can move, because moving content that runs past five seconds must offer a way to stop it.
The pause button Every card is in the page’s HTML. With no JavaScript this is a plain row you can swipe, and nothing is hidden from search.
No JavaScript At the end it fades out and starts again from the first card, instead of rewinding past every one.

Let what your clients say move gently across the page, without anyone losing a quote halfway through reading it.

What it replaces
- Elementor Pro “Testimonial Carousel” widget
- Slick and Owl Carousel testimonial sliders
- Strong Testimonials and similar WordPress plugins
- Beaver Builder and UABB testimonials modules
Good for
Five to fifteen testimonials or reviews you want read, short and long mixed, on a home page or a service page.
Not for
A live feed of Google or Tripadvisor reviews: this shows what you give it and fetches nothing. And two or three quotes, which read better side by side.
Accessibility
Written so the page works for every visitor, whether they browse with a mouse, a keyboard or a screen reader, and whether or not they have asked for less motion.
- Every card is in the HTML as a list item: a figure with a blockquote and a figcaption. Without JavaScript it is a swipeable, scroll-snapping row and nothing is hidden, from readers or from search.
- WCAG 2.2.2: a visible, 44 px play/pause button sits with the arrows whenever the row can move. Its name says what it will do.
- The autoplay never takes a quote from someone reading it: each card waits its reading time (never under 7 s), a hovering mouse holds the row, and it moves one card at a time.
- Taking hold of the row stops it until Play is pressed — an arrow, a swipe or click in the row, a sideways wheel, or keyboard focus anywhere in it except the play button. That is the WAI-ARIA carousel pattern.
- The row is focusable and named, so a keyboard can scroll it with the arrow keys. The arrows use aria-disabled at the ends, so focus is not dropped when a button stops working.
- prefers-reduced-motion (tracked live): no autoplay, no play button, and the arrows jump instead of gliding. It also stops while off screen and in hidden tabs.
Where it's live
- nicolelawton.com: Home, "In their words" (her own copy, pre-launch on nicolelawton.gohero.us); the reading-time dwell was built for it
- JWalk Tours: Home and tour pages, as ReviewScroller: the earlier version, with a fixed 5 s interval
How to ask for it
“The testimonial-carousel on our home page, with …”
Name it, say which page and which part of the page it goes on, and say what goes in it: your photos, your words, your colors. That is a complete request. We build it, you approve it, and it goes live. If you know it by another name, from WordPress or from another site, that works too.
More elements you can ask for: Before / After, Particle field, Mega menu, Video background, Parallax band, Scroll reveal, Business hours, News ticker, Flip box, Instagram feed, Accordion / FAQ, Card slider, Tabs, Info list, Video player, Icon library, Animated text, Cookie consent, Animated background, Modal box, Announcement bar, Image hotspots, Info circle, Slide box, Countdown, Content toggle, Off-canvas panel, Video gallery, Map and directions, Link effects, Tabcordion, Tooltip, Responsive table, Notice, Toast, Loading, Menu button, Radio group, Stepper, Tags, Scrollbox, Sticker. Find the icon, copy its name, put it in a request — it arrives as one crisp inline SVG, not a 300 KB font.
- Video gallery
All your videos on one page, sorted by topic, with your own thumbnails, and nothing loads from YouTube until someone picks one.
- Before / After
Show the old and the new in one frame, and let visitors drag to compare.
- Instagram feed
Your latest posts on your own site, from our copy of the images, so the grid does not go blank when Instagram changes its mind.
