Video background

A video background website, built into your site with no plugin and no library. A muted, looping video behind a hero, over a poster, with an optional tint and a visible pause button. Only the poster loads on small screens, under reduced motion and without JavaScript.

Copy sits above the video.
The button bottom right pauses it.

You'll need to give us

The video, as a file or a link to download itNeeded to startA short clip that loops without a visible jump. It plays muted, so sound is not needed.

Send these with your request and we can start straight away. Everything else is ours to do.

Open your home page with moving footage of your work, without making visitors wait for it or wrestle with it.

Good for

A hero where the footage is the argument: a venue, a kitchen at work, a site being built. Short, quiet, loopable clips of 10–20 s.

Not for

Footage with a message, speech or captions (use a real player), or anything a visitor must see: on phones and under reduced motion they get the poster alone.

Accessibility

Written so the page works for every visitor, whether they browse with a mouse, a keyboard or a screen reader, and whether or not they have asked for less motion.

WCAG 2.2.2: a visible pause button (bottom right, 44 px) is shown whenever the video can play. Its name says what it will do, “Pause background video” or “Play background video”.
prefers-reduced-motion (tracked live): poster only, nothing downloaded, no button because nothing moves.
The video is muted, `aria-hidden` and out of the tab order; the slot content is the hero’s real content and carries its meaning.
Pauses while scrolled out of view and while the tab is hidden, and resumes on return unless the visitor paused it. If autoplay is refused, the button offers Play.
Without JavaScript the poster shows and no video is fetched, so there is no unpausable motion.

How to ask for it

“The video-background on our home page, with …”

Name it, say which page and which part of the page it goes on, and say what goes in it: your photos, your words, your colors. That is a complete request. We build it, you approve it, and it goes live. If you know it by another name, from WordPress or from another site, that works too.

More elements you can ask for: Before / After, Particle field, Mega menu, Parallax band, Scroll reveal, Business hours, News ticker, Flip box, Instagram feed, Accordion / FAQ, Card slider, Tabs, Info list, Video player, Testimonial carousel, Icon library, Animated text, Cookie consent, Animated background, Modal box, Announcement bar, Image hotspots, Info circle, Slide box, Countdown, Content toggle, Off-canvas panel, Video gallery, Map and directions, Link effects, Tabcordion, Tooltip, Responsive table, Notice, Toast, Loading, Menu button, Radio group, Stepper, Tags, Scrollbox, Sticker. Or see all of them working.

More in Hero & motion

See them all working

Parallax band
Break up a long page with a wide photo that glides behind your words as visitors scroll.
Scroll reveal
Let sections and cards arrive as visitors scroll to them, so a long page feels alive without anything getting in the way.
Animated text
Let your most important line arrive the way you would say it out loud, in your own type and at your own pace.
Animated background
The moving hero background people ask for — waves, cells, fog, birds — in one small file, no WebGL, and it holds still for anyone who asked for less motion.
